about

Following their current album “Turtle Roll,” which saw German instrumental experimentalists Saroos add vocals (!) and various guests (!) to the mix, the dub-lovin’ Hamburg/Berlin trio is about to return with two additional remixes of standout tracks “Tin & Glass” feat. Ronald Lippok and “The Sign” feat. Kiki Hitomi. Even more dancefloor-ready and hypnotic than before, the new remixes by DJ Knuf (Rome) and The Leaf Library (London) are set to be released on November 24 via Alien Transistor.

Replacing the motorik retro funk of the original version with playful bleeps and boomin’ basslines, DJ Knuf (Maurizio Bilancioni) – a man who obviously knows how to reverse the funk – pushes “Tin & Glass” even further onto the dancefloor. The producer and DJ from Rome cuts and splices Lippok’s (Tarwater, To Roccoco Rot) vocals, adding more heat, playful minimalist house beats and additional tweaks to arrive at an extended state of booty-shaking bliss.

Otherwise known for delicate drone pop loops and space rock excursions, The Leaf Library from London convert “The Sign” into a thick and glowing wickerwork tapestry – a dense weave with a racing heart underneath. It takes a while for Japanese guest Kiki Hitomi’s (Waq Waq Kingdom) voice to break through to the surface, as the London collective takes Saroos’ unmistakable sound and uses a defibrillator to set “The Sign” on fire.
